Spiderman Home Run Release Date, Cast, Plot & Everything You Need To Know

Now, with the recent release of the Across the Spider-verse Movie, it really feels like we’ve gotten updates for every Spider-Man movie over at Sony except for Spiderman Home Run.

“Now, initially, Sony had confirmed they were going to be at CCXP, the Brazilian Comic Con, just a month ago, and we expected there would be a huge announcement there, but that came and went, and they actually pulled out.

Today, we have one of the absolute top brass over at Sony and Tom Rothman talking about Spider-Man Home Run, and the phrase that he uses is actually extremely indicative of what’s going on with that film.

We’re gonna break down his most recent quote in the most official update we’ve gotten about Spider-Man 4 in quite some time. We’ll also jump into some of the rumors about possible cameos and/or the major villain.

Official Update From Sony Pictures

Okay, so the update actually comes from the top brass at Sony Pictures Entertainment, their CEO, and Tom Rothman, in a report from The Hollywood Reporter that literally broke the News, under the headline ‘Tom Rothman is this year’s Studio valedictorian‘.

They bring up the Spider-Man IP, mentioning some of the same projects I mentioned during the prologue.

But what I’ll also mention about them pulling out of Exp was their original confirmation had a quote alongside the advertisement that said ‘Try to control your excitement if you can! Expect big surprises.

I speculated at the time the reason they might be pulling out is that they don’t have an update for Spider-Man 4, and that’s where we find Tom Rothman’s quote today about that film.

The Hollywood Reporter writes, ‘There’s no official word regarding when the next live-action Spider-Man 4 will hit theaters,’ but it’s a ‘no-brainer’, to which Tom Rothman replies, ‘Quote: ‘You bet. When you can expect it, I don’t know. To serve any wine before its time

Spiderman Home Run Release Date

Now, I know you guys have heard the rumor that it’s going to look like the summer of 2024 before it comes out. Marvel’s slate is already so packed in late 2024 if they don’t get it out before Captain America: New World Order in May.

In the past, there has been a two-year gap between each Spider-Man movie within the MCU, but we suspect there will be a longer gap for the next film, as 2023 already has two Marvel films scheduled for release: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on June 2 and Madame Web on October 6.

There is an unconfirmed Marvel project scheduled for June 7, 2024, which has led to speculation that it could be Spider-Man Home Run.

However, if this were the case, it would mean that the film would be released one month after Captain America: New World Order and one month before Thunderbolts, which seems like a crowded release schedule even for the packed MCU

I don’t see how it would fit on the schedule in 2024, which means one of two things: either we’re all waiting till 2025 for that film to come out, which would be a real shame.

And I’m hoping that’s not the case, or maybe they could sort of fast-track and get it out in early 2024 before May’s release of Captain America: New World Order.

But given the fabric of the statement and how he sort of phrased it, it doesn’t feel like that’s the case either.

So, we’ll have to wait and see how long they’re going to have to let this wine, quote-unquote, sit before it’s done, and I think that’s probably going to dictate when there’s even a spot for it to be released amongst Marvel’s slate.

But they have to go ahead and get there because you’re obviously going to want Tom Holland involved in secret Wars and he’s got a long way to go now that no one remembers who he is.

Now, some of the rumors, AND best I could sort of trace them on the internet, as hard as that’s become, they’re coming from the Twitter scoops, Spider Culture, indicated two things:

One, that Black Cat may be making a cameo appearance, and while I have a lot I could say on that, I’m a lot more interested in the second update that indeed.

Who Will Be The Villain In Spiderman Home Run?

Michael Mando’s Scorpion story would finally be made good, and he could end up being the villain in Spider-Man Home Run.

Now, I know there were a lot of rumors about Kingpin, and if I had my choice, I would want to see Spider-Man go against Kingpin.

Michael Mando’s Scorpion, especially in a modern take of that character, seems like a natural choice, only because they left that storyline completely open at the end of Homecoming, and he’d be a perfect villain for where Peter Parker is at the moment.

Spiderman Home Run Cast

It is expected that Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4.

During the promotion of No Way Home, Holland’s involvement in a fourth film was uncertain.

While he has not expressed reluctance to return to the role for a fourth film or even a second trilogy, he has expressed a desire to take a break after the stress of keeping the movie’s secrets.

Given how Spider-Man: No Way Home ended, there is a possibility that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon may not return as MJ and Ned, but it is hoped that they will both reprise their roles.

As for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, it is not expected that they will be part of the Spider-Man 4 Cast.

Both have said that they would be open to the idea if the script was good enough, but No Way Home returned them to their own universes, so it would be unusual for them to appear again

Now, the only other rumor I see keeps coming up, is that Miles Morales could actually end up being Peter Parker’s roommate, or at least living in the same apartment building, and that’ll be the introduction of Miles in the MCU.

My argument here would be that Tom Holland has a ton of movies left on his contract, so unless they plan on introducing Miles Morales and running them at the same time.

Miles wouldn’t get his own movie unless they plan on taking him and crossing him over into the Sony Spider-verse he’s in desperate need of a Spider-Man and doesn’t have one yet.

I also think with Miles featuring the way he is in across the Spider-Verse franchise, with the next two films coming out, it just feels very redundant to introduce Miles alongside Peter Parker immediately in the MCU in Spider-Man Home Run.

Especially considering Peter’s story has just finally been reverted to an almost original status like we’re hitting the reset button on Peter Parker. Why would we all of a sudden bring Miles Morales to the table? So, that’s been my problem with that rumor. Haven’t really had a chance to talk about it.

Spiderman Home Run Plot

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, no one knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, including MJ and Ned. However, Peter is still active as Spider-Man in the world.

This means that the potential fourth movie has the freedom to explore various storylines, such as having Peter train a new Spider-Man, a standalone adventure where he faces a new villain or something else entirely.

One possibility is that the movie will finally depict the long-awaited battle between Spider-Man and Venom on the big screen.

In the credits scene of Venom 2, Eddie Brock and Venom are transported to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) due to a botched spell cast by Doctor Strange.

However, at the end of the movie, Doctor Strange rectifies the spell, and Eddie and Venom are returned to their own universe.

However, a piece of the Venom symbiote is left behind in the MCU, which could potentially take over someone in the universe.

It is unlikely that the MCU will introduce its own version of Venom, as Tom Hardy is very popular with fans in the role.

Therefore, if the face-off between Spider-Man and Venom were to happen, it is likely that they would find a way for either Spider-Man to cross into Venom’s universe or vice versa.

Could the Release of Spider-Man Home Run Impact Marvel Phase 5’s Slate?

According to this rumor, the release date of Spider-Man 4 is relatively close to Thunderbolts, with only a 12-day gap between them.

It is unclear if one of the movies will be rescheduled, but it is likely that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures will find a way to make room for both projects.

Regardless of the specific release dates, this update is a good sign as it suggests that there are more stories to be told featuring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Crossover of Garfield’s Spider-Man and Daredevil

It seems likely that everything will lead up to Avengers: Secret Wars, where almost any character from any part of the Marvel universe could potentially appear, as the MCU’s universe begins to fall apart.

It would make sense for Daredevil and Garfield’s Spider-Man to cross over and appear together in this movie.

With Daredevil appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it seems that Kevin Feige has a plan to make The Man Without Fear and Spider-Man the leaders of the MCU’s street-level characters.

Daredevil will also be featured in the animated movie Spider-Man: Freshman Year and a similar dynamic could potentially be repeated in Sony’s rumored Spider-Man 4.

As the Multiverse Saga develops and Daredevil: Born Again is released on Disney+ in 2024, it will become clearer what Marvel’s plans are for Spider-Man and Daredevil.

SpiderMan Home Run Trailer Concept

No, it has not been officially confirmed. We have included a concept trailer for Spider-Man Home Run below, and we will provide updates as soon as an official trailer becomes available

Conclusion

I am unsure about the information that has been presented, as it seems to raise more questions than provide answers. I would like to know your thoughts and opinions on the potential villains, cast, and release schedule for Spider-Man 4. How do you envision the wait until 2025 affecting the movie, if it were to happen?
